12-31-2009 - Dirty Deuce's New Year's Eve Party

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:22:33 - 58mb

My good friend, Dirty Deuce, hosted his world famous Big Wig Disco Dancin' Party on the eve of 2010 from The International Show Lounge.

He took some time to look back at 2009, year of the goose, look forward to 2010, year of the monkey, saying hello daddy, would you like another? Ya damn right, can I get a hell yeah? That’s wassup…and gino partying like it’s 1999.

A few people called in to sing some Karaoke, to both 'What a Fool Believes' and 'Ra-Ra-Rasputin'.

A fellow from Germany (read: Quebec) called to say he loved Dirty Deuce, and then sang about how the station sucked.

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:00:54 - 57mb

Cold Opening: Credit card? You got it.

It's a Northern Hemispheric Christmas Holiday Celebration, ya'll! We had a 12-piece Canadian Brass Orchestra live in my bedroom in Etobicoke.

We kicked things off with my little sister Elise and her Fop Five Favourite Things about XMAS. We then played our first installment from Elise's Diary.

We then went to our live feed from Vatican City of Pope John Paul II's live sermon, and made excuses about my ongoing hair loss.

Then I got interrupted by some Christmas carolers in my very own house. Merry effin' Christmas.

Cold Closing: KEVIN!

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:51:52 - 52mb

Cold Opening: Mom?

Tonight's topic was all in the family, ya'll.

My sisters Elise and Celine kicked things off by calling in. We began by playing Celine's dating ad, The Adventures of Jiminy Crocket, and singing Snow from White Christmas. We reminisced over old Maple Leaf highlight tapes, Russel Oliver's cousin Oliver Russel, and Celine's Great Expectation book report.

Elise stayed on the line to play Better Know A Sokol and said she would pull the plug on her sister.

At around 1AM, we checked in once again with my ongoing hair loss. We then played the entire Canary Training Record from the Hartz Mountain Master Radio Canaries. We wrapped things up by reading the first couple pages from Molly and Mr. Maloney.

Digory and D. Brendan McKee called in to say they were at McDonald's, and then someone called to say they didn't want the Kenny Vs Spenny Season 5 DVD and hung up the phone.

We'd like to take a moment thank our sponsors Glasses 4 You and The Jerry Springer Show.

12-10-2009 - A Quest For Requests

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 2:05:36 - 58mb

Cold Opening: What's the phrase that pays?

We were supposed to spend the whole show surfing the FM dial in Ottawa, but unfortunately, I forgot my clock radio at home. So instead, we went on A Quest for Requests. We did our best to find every station's online webstream, and from there on in, it was our goal to have Big Daddy Kane's Another Victory play somewhere, anywhere else on the FM dial. We called Virgin, The CHEZ, Jewel, CHRI, CBC Radio, and MIX FM, but no one would play our request.

Finally, we settled on calling sister station CHUO 89.1FM, and at 2:05AM in the morning, Doug Ralph and Co. played our request. Another victory.

To kill some time, we checked out The Smurf All Star Show Album, and Digory from the Mixedtape Marathon dropped in early to chat about Jayhaed Saadé's pirate radio station.

John called in to point out the similarities between Leonard Cohen's work, and that of the Smurfs.

Michael phoned in to test our request claims, and he chose Rollins Band 'Liar' which we subsequently played.

12-03-2009 - Wild Wild West

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:56:16 - 54mb

Cold Opening: Bill O'Reilly

Off the top of the show, my cousin Andrea called in to talk about the Wild Wild West, chimney-sweeps, road rage, and to play Canada's fastest growing home game Name That Firearm.

Last week was my first time being emcee at the Cliche Cafe in the Byward Market, and everyone recited E.E. Cummings's "Buffalo Bill's" before things turned ugly. Then we explored the western saying of "Head West For Hairy Chests". From there we went on to talk about my recent Hair Loss.

Featured on the show were a selection of Doug Cass hits. We also played a deleted scene from the motion picture Rainman, and doled out some canoeing advice through our good friend Billy Two-Paddles. And on that note, we featured Little Richard's Robot Canoe, and Woody's First Porno.

Finally, we talked about my building's Laundry Bandit, and the infamous Lassos and Tattoos.

Notes:
  • Sarah Jessica Parker is a horseface.
  • I had problems playing prank calls off the station's shitty computers.

    Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:57:47 - 57mb

Off the top of the show we recognized American Thanksgiving and listened to Peter White's thoughts on the holiday. Then it was right into an interview with JR Digs, which was rounded out by a telemarkter call from Man with a Van.

My sister Elise called into the show, talked about our cousin Andrea (DJ John) and expressed her desire to continue the birthday festivities by playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey.

The next interview featured Morgan Waters from Sweet Thing.

Sebastien from Montreal called in to play Question/Answer, only to get Sokol'd.

To round out the show we played interviews with JP Hasson from JP Inc. (formerly Pleaseeasaur), Kenneth Joel Hotz from Kenny Vs. Spenny, and some outtakes from the Spencer Nolan Rice interview.

We also played some tunes by Friends of Emmet (F.O.E.).

    11-19-2009 - Under the Sea

    Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:55:14 - 54mb

Finally, I'm back on Terra firma and able to post last night's episode. For the last 24 hours I've been aboard the SS Piece of S, 20 000 leagues under the sea of the Ottawa river.

As usual, we kicked things off by listening to my set from the Cliche Cafe. We then played some audio from when I ordered a Submarine Sandwich. Aztec Weather God 'Quetzalcoatl' kept our listeners up to date from our very own heli-chopper, and I explained the logic behind Monkey Ski, Monkey Do, Monkey Ski-doo. We also took a moment to reminisce about our Octopus Octagon. We also got around to resurrecting the Gangsta Word of the Week, which happened to be 'Cola Surfer' and I talked about the legend of the Oar Whore. Finally, I talked a bit about my favourite TV show Late Nite Chum Talk w/ Adolphe Inn.

Stephanie from Ottawa-based Canned Funk called in to the show and sang along with the Little Mermaid's 'Under the Sea'.

At 1AM, our FM broadcast signal went down, due to a planned outage I had not been told about. I continued the show for our online audience over on www.ckcufm.com and eventually had the bright idea to check in on the CHUO 89.1 FM stream. This lead me to call up my arch-nemesis Doug Ralph, host of competing program Do you hear what I hear? We talked about his claim to having "the greatest late night radio show in Ottawa", his East Coast tour, my involvement with University of Ottawa radio, and racing for pink slips.

With about a half hour left I started wondering if Digory (host of the Mixedtape Marathon) would be coming in. I got him on the phone and we argued about who's program should be aired overnight, but the question remained, would DJ Digs show up?

And then I decided to freestyle mad jams up in yo ass for the last ten minutes of the show with my main man Juan Pedro.

11-12-2009 - Law Makers and Breakers

    Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:48:01 - 50mb

Tonight's show was all about violence, crime, policemen, lawmakers and breakers.

Unfortunately, I had to use a text-to-speech computer program for the whole show because I lost my voice. We kicked things off by listening to my set from the Cliche Cafe. Later on, we revisited the issues surrounding Cinema Politica and Marc Kelly, as well as the G-Man's (Gerrard Daeschel) run in with the 5-0.

At the top of the hour, we covered traffic on the Ottawa roads and highways. We also played some Crazy Crazy Craigslist; White TheSaurus's newest single 'Whymanizer' from his 'The 90's Mixtape'; and my duet of Ain't No Mountain High Enough.

Halfway through the second hour, we remembered fondly our very first episode in which we covered CB Radios and Police Scanners. We also managed to find some time to play the second episode of Rug Burns: Vigilante Cop. And finally, the topic of field sobriety tests was broached.

Big thanks goes out to anyone who donated to the station during our annual funding drive!

11-05-2009 - Swine Flu Funding Drive Special

    Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:52:13 - 52mb

My alter-ego, the Moon Dog, was in studio feeling ill for our Swine Flu Funding Drive Special!

Stephanie, lead singer of the band Canned Funk, dropped by to promote 'Caution (Remix)' and took a couple calls about the band's upcoming Euro-Tour.

A long-time caller said the swine flu vaccine is a conspiracy being funded by General Motors.

We played my funding drive ad from last year, and talked about where all the funding drive money is going. Some of the items we have purchased are: an A-Frame Ladder, a hammer, some aerosal spray, a jackhammer, and some motorcycles to name a few. We also let Sigmund Freud's Robotic Android make a couple phoney phone calls.

In the second hour, we played an episode of The Strange Dr. Weird, which was about lifting weights, apes, and tommy guns.

Special thanks goes out to my sisters Celine, Elise, and my Mom for donating to the show and the station.
