Cold Opening: WTF Canadian Tire?!!

It was The Household Appliances Show! From lint shavers, to fudge packers, to meat grinders this show had it all. including my last Cliche Cafe poem ever. On the flipside, for the first time ever, I opened the Moon Down Mailbag and answered Herman's question about the Slapchop/Quickchop controversy. If you would like to have your email read on the air, send your questions to moondownradio@gmail.com or regular mail to:

Tonight's show also had the Fop Five Most Dangerous Household Appliances list, and the Gangster Word of the Week was Dutch Oven. In the News segment, I read a couple stories about talking refrigerators and household hadron colliders.
  • Spicoli called in to tell us what his favourite appliance was.
  • My younger sister Elise called in to impersonate a vacuum cleaner, and to read some more of diaries.
  • My older sister Celine put on a show of her own, managing to get the VCR and DVD player on the air.
  • My Mom got on the phone to comment on the sluts, but we had technical difficulties.
  • Paul called in to put his microwave on the air, and then we both joined in what amounted to a circle jerk of sound effects.
  • Digory joined me in studio for some Crazy Crazy Craigslist, and to apologize for his hate speech from two weeks ago.
  • Dave called in with his own version of Guess the Appliance? Both Digory and I guessed incorrectly. Dave revealed he was using what was called a "bong", which is some sort of heating/kettle stove-top device for pots.
  • I made an outgoing call to a diner in Ottawa, and got Miles to play a household appliances version of the Feud. Miles won some fast money.
  • I played my mom's answering machine message.
At the end of the show I announced Paul as the winner of his very own Moon Down Radio T-Shirt, street value $5.

03-11-2010 - Mooney's Bay Beach Bash

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:59:51 - 61mb

Cold Opening: Pulled my arm biking to the beach...not ready to roll!

In celebration of the first day of spring, we put on Moon Down Radio's First Annual Midnight Mooney's Bay Beach Bash! Off the top show, we heard performances by The Dutch Rhythm Steel & Show Band on the beach, and The Come Ons on our Generic Alcoholic Beverage Stage.

I played my latest appearance from the Cliche Cafe, announced the results from our volleyball tournament, and threw some burgers and hot dogs on the grill. I wasted somet time fooling around with technology, then it was on to our Stone Skipping Contest. Beat-reporter Julien Sokol gave us the down-low on a fight between two seagulls for one of the remaining hot dogs, and a couple of kids spoke about UV ray protection.

It wasn't all fun and games. Billy was killed by the Rideau River Shark. I also talked about the Seaworld 'killer' killer whale, and then played audio of the death of Dawn Brancheau. To make matters worse, I even told the terrifying campfire story 'Ou est le petit chat?'

How-To Segment: How To Fight Off a Shark

We finally recapped my little sister's diary from the last three weeks, and I picked up the conk shell to call her and wake her up out of bed to read us more of her diary.

03-04-2010 - Dreams and Nightmares

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:55:16 - 55mb

Cold Opening: Where's Dr. Banana Yoshimoto?

Off the top show, I phoned The Charlatan's head office and asked them to send over one of their esteemed writers. This was an emergency. Our interview didn't show, and so I needed someone to fill in to talk about the show's topic, Dreams and Nightmares. Fortunately, copy-editor Chris Herhalt came down and was right on top of the ball. We talked for a few minutes, and he revealed he had a recurring nightmare of being curbstomped. Check out his article on Scientology in Ottawa. I also revealed one of my own dreams involving necrophilia.

Once the show was officially underway, I played my latest appearance from the Cliche Cafe, and discussed the meaning behind the English rhyme "It's Raining It's Pouring, The Old Man Is Snoring". I also talked about musicians who dream music, and tried my hand at it by creating Baby's First Rock Song, a guaranteed chart-topper. Four items were discussed on Crazy Crazy Craigslist, and I played My Retarded Girlfriend's Dream.

How-To Segment: How To Tell If You Are Dreaming
  • Pope Justin called in to talk about a dream he had where he took over the world.
  • Bobby the Security Guard called in to talk about his recurring dreams about knives. We also discussed Russian Spies and maglite candle power.
  • Red Bronson called in to explain the concept of lucid dreaming and we used our in-studio GPS technology to help him find his girlfriend's friend's house while he was getting chased by the coppers.
  • JRoss phoned in and punk'd me on the air. He lied about a dream where his parents get stabbed. JRoss was eating alphagetties and gave a shout-out to all his friends from LCVI.
  • Digory AKA DJ Digs dropped by to talk about his dreams of having time-freezing superpowers, Stalin, and chainsaws.
Throughout the rest of the night I recounted dreams and nightmares from this past week.
