09-24-2009 - Gaming and Sports

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:56:39 - 54mb

Tonight's topic was Gaming and Sports:

We kicked things off by playing my most recent set from the Cliche Cafe (w/ bongos). We checked out new video games 'Grooves and Hooves' and 'Tractor Simulator 2009'. Later on we played the 'Nintendo Rap April 25.mp3' and Juan Pedro shared his 'Darkness the Curse' phony phone call to Blockbuster Video.

Dr. Chad Warden reviewed the PS3 (PSTriple), the XBOX 360 and the Wii.

Peter White
chimed in with his thoughts on chess, Monopoly, Warhammer, arcades, and Pokemon.

The Sports Hour kicked off with our very own Carleton Sports Recap, including rowing, field hockey, and soccer scores. We also took some time to celebrate Mean Joe Greene's birthday, and Ben Johnson's 21st anniversary of roidin' it up at the '88 Summer Olympics. He cheetah all the time.

We covered the 'Hockey Helmet Hoedown', and the fastest growing sport in North America, 'Baby Punt'.

Aztec weather God 'Quetzalcoatl' kept our listeners up to date from our very own heli-chopper; and Rob 'n' Cole called Ottawa residents asking them "Would you rather be a Packers fan, or stick your head in the toilet?"

DJ Digs called in to bag on Ben Johnson, talk about Reaganomics, and plug his radio show.

09-17-2009 - Driving Cars

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 2:08:11 - 59mb

Off the top of the show, we called a lady in my apartment building who owns a ferret. We then featured Ottawa-based noisecore band 'Harsh Supplement', and Toronto-based 90's rock band 'The Garo Experience f/ Tro'. We also delved into Tro's new Armenian techno single 'Gino Party', produced by Patrick Wilson.
The night's topic was driving cars.

We kicked things off by playing 'Julien's Roadside Stories', and a poetry set from the Cliche Cafe. Later on we played audio tape from the Pervert Parade, and fondly remembered 'Horns Across America'.

New to the program this week is our very own Aztec weather God 'Quetzalcoatl' and I called different gas stations in Ottawa to try and guess the prices of petrol in our game "How Much For Your Gas". To cap things off we played some Carmen Sandiego-related material.

Sean Cooley from Moonrappin' tried to call in, but his phone cut out.

Sarah/Kimberley called in to request 'Gino Party' by 'Tro'.

Someone using a Dr. Phil soundboard called in...and also requested 'Gino Party' by 'Tro'.

Slam DaMan called in to talk about cars and whistletips (Wa-you-wanna-WOOWOO ITS DAT WOO WOO).

DJ Digs called in while driving on the Queensway to do a traffic report.

WLUV's The White Shaft promoted the Scrub & Tug Car Wash on Merivale Road.

And the show ran long this week...enjoy!

09-10-2009 - The Fight Show

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:53:29 - 53mb

It's the Fight Show. We're talking about boxing, wrestling, macho men, brawling, aggressive behaviour, and being tough.

We checked out some Intense Thumb Wrestling Action, the Octopus Octagon, and C4 Wrestling's main event between the Splash Sailor and Ayatollah Uso.

We also played my set from the Cliche Cafe and a brand new trailer from Magnum PP.

This week's Fop Five List was all about Pre-Fight Rituals.

Also, we introduced our new Morse Code Action News team, and our new blaxploitation radio program "Rug Burns: Vigilante Cop".

We also got a couple calls:
  • Adam, bass player for The Garo Experience f/ Tro, called in to talk about the band's recent tour, upcoming album, and the death of lead guitarist, Doug Wright.
  • Sean Cooley from Moonrappin' dropped some def knowledge on stupid heads about Village Throwdowns and his workout regiment.
  • Sara called in to request more Muscle Tapes, and tell a non-story.
Big thanks goes out to our show sponsor, Ted's Mattress and Futon Emporium, and to Shad for the quick interview!
