05-27-2010 - Summer Blockbuster Movies

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 2:04:00 - 58mb

Last night's show focused on Summer Blockbuster Movies featuring the Official Moon Down Radio Osterizer Imperial Blender. Brandon called in at the top of the hour to talk about Sex and the City 2, Macgruber, and Prince of Persia among others. I discussed Toy Story 3, as well as Woody's Porno Career, The Karate Kid, and Grown Ups.

In the Moon Down Mail Bag, I answered a couple questions about home movies and original script ideas. I also played parts of a recent interview with Peter White regarding his two latest graphic novels Demons in the Dark and Altered Spirits; and an interview with rapper H.W.

In the second hour, I called up video stores in British Columbia, and talked about some of my movie ideas (Copper Guy, Miss Bea Hayes Misbehaves, Rug Burns: Vigilante Cop, Brain Damage for Brad Cabbage, and Who Bogarted the Humphrey Bogart Movies?)

Finally, I wondered if it was possible to make a feature length movie about a killer blender starring Mr. T.

Let's blend some garbage!

Finally, for What's in the trash can, garbage man? I used our trusty blender to tear up a CD, a couple muffin wrappers, and some paper.

05-20-2010 - The Dating Show

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 2:05:27 - 61mb

Hey, it was The Dating Show, featuring Taylor the Bachelor. We talked about love, first kisses, flirting, bad dating tips, video dating services, ball size, and the many (read: few) benefits of velcro shoes.

Exhibit A: Taylor's Velcro Shoe

Throughout the night we played a couple of rounds of the Get to Know Taylor Better Dating Game, and we answered some Dear Abby emails in the Moon Down Mail Bag. I also asked fellow pedestrian Ottawans what they look for in an ideal relationship; one caller professed their love of pizza; Taylor and I tackled the news together, and we tried to avoid looking at a bunch of penises on Chatroulette. We were trying to cruise for hot chicks on the site...here are some of the results:

Jason from the Friday the 13th Series

Freddy from the Nightmare on Elm Street Series

At the end of the show, we finally found a woman, Rachel from the United States of America, and she said she didn't like me. The end.

05-13-2010 - Pizza Party

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 2:02:58 - 58mb

Tonight's show was our first annual Pizza Party on the airwaves. Taylor the Turtle AKA Taylor the Tool Expert AKA Taylor WHAT-SON was in studio to share his expert knowledge from working in a Domino's Pizza. I played tape from Tuesday when I hit the downtown core to get people's thoughts about pizza, including what they would serve Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Juan Pedro was sick with a disease which could only be cured by pizza made of cheese. Taylor and I finally settled on Pizza Shark because of it's close proximity and late hours of operation. Then it was into my Mercedes Benz to pick up the order!

From the road, Taylor gave play-by-play as we paid for the pizza, and handed some out to a guy on the street. On the drive back, we lost our connection, so we didn't get back on the air until we were nearing the University...once we parked, we headed back up to the CKCU studios, but only after handing out a couple more slices to a fellow student.

It's not delivery...it's Taylor!

Once safely back in the studio, we fed Juan Pedro some pizza, and it cured his/her's/it's disease. Taylor participated in the Thunder Round, we played his review of the screwdriver, I guessed his weight, and Juan Pedro tried to Pin the Tail on the Donkey.

The show wrapped up with a short interview regarding the global economy...more info can be found at: http://lymcanada.org/

05-06-2010 - Mothers

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:56:56 - 55mb

This week we celebrated an early Mother's Day on the show. I tried to get my mom on the phone, but we were having some technical difficulties, so it was on to our new segment, What's in the trash can, garbageman? where I dug for a good mother's day present. I wasn't able to find anything suitable as a gift, so in honour of my mother, I crushed an empty can of Nestea with my foot.

First Annual Mother's Day Can Crunching!

Our resident tool-guy, Taylor the Tool Expert phoned in and was immediately put in the Hot Seat before we aired his review of a measuring tape. Taylor revealed his aunt's nickname was the "maneater". Taylor also commented on the negative feedback from fans of the show to his segment, stating they were all jealous of his abs.

Taylor wasn't the only one getting knocked, as I rolled tape of a couple of kids insulting me. Finally, I got around to playing some recorded interviews from Baskin Robbins 31 Cent Scoop Night.

Tonight's How To segment explained How Tid Mother's Day Come About. Then it was on our Fop Five Hottest Hollywood Moms, special mothering skills, and whether or not Mother Knows Best.

Haligua

Found a cassette tape from a band called Haligua in a thrift store here in Ottawa.

Four mediocre straight-edge-punk-rock songs with one hidden untitled gem at the end.

Kids, don't do drugs! All words and music - 1997.

Check out their cool website http://www.reocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palladium/2839/ and they might still check their email (xhaliguax@hotmail.com) thirteen years later too. Send 'em a shout out and see if the boys from Sainte-Anne-De-Bellevue, Quebec are still fighting the good fight!

NO sex + NO drugs + Rock 'n' Roll = Apparently, NO long-term success.

You can order their music here: http://home.ica.net/~hamilton/haligua/mail/mail.htm but probably not.

*UPDATE* November 21, 2010:

"Thank you for posting this. Here's an update for you on what the ex-members of Haligua are up to music-wise.

Modupeh Taylor Cline played in a couple Toronto area bands then ended up managing a few bands such as The Getaway, Sunriser, Cancel Winter, and Stellarband.

Ben Dussault played drums in Montreal hardcore bands A Death For Every Sin and Final Word then went on to drum for American bands Throwdown and Madball.

Luke Brodie played in a couple bands in Toronto then moved to Mexico City where he started a solo acoustic project in Spanish, released 2 full-length albums, toured extensively, and put out a couple videos.

All 3 are still straightedge, still friends, and live in Toronto."
