07-29-2010 - The Death Show

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:57:23 - 60mb

Tonight's topic was DEATH!!! Off the top of the show, I counted down the Fop Five Most Common Ways to Die, and I talked about suicide, near death experiences, euthanasia machines, and unusual deaths.

This week's How-To segment featured The Golding Institute's 'Final Relaxation' CD, for the anti-lifers in our listening audience.

Quality tunes!

Also on the show:

  • Using deathclock.com I found out I have 32 miserable years to live.
  • I commented on the concept of bucket lists and answered "listener" email.
  • Peter White explained karma, reincarnation, and how to be a good tapeworm in your next life.
  • I ran audio of Budd Dwyer's suicide.
  • New segment: Our Great-GrandParents Music
  • I asked people around Carleton U "What happens when we die?"
  • and much more...

07-22-2010 - Lunar Landing

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 59:14 - 31mb

Has man truly walked on the moon? Tonight's show has the answer.

We uncovered the secret behind rocket fuel (mentos and coke), examined pictures taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, and audio from Richard Nixon's telephone call to the moon.

Moonpies!

I also hit the streets to ask local "scientists" about whether the moon landing was faked or not; we named off the 12 men who have "walked on the moon"; announced the Fop Five Countries Headed to the Moon Next; and Peter White told us how easy it is to send a rocket into space.

Dreams & Nightmares II:

Taylor AKA T-What AKA T-Dub AKA Taylorsaurus Rex was in studio with me for the night as we discussed dreamcatchers, Don Quixote, snoring, the self-concept, peeing the bed, falling asleep at work, dreaming about men, and tons more.

Taylor also told us about his first wet dream...

Sex sells!!!

Also, for the first time ever we played Dream of Fortune on the air; I interviewed some people on the street about their worst nightmares; we announced the Fop Five Most Amazing Things about Dreams; and Peter White told a short story based off a dream he called "The Mountain of Enlightenment".

07-08-2010 - Shapes & Colours

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 1:00:42 - 30mb

Tonight's show focused on Shapes & Colours.

I kicked things off by talking about colour-blindness, the regular kind of blindness, and sound-colour synethesia.

We heard a short story from Peter White, in which he painted a picture with words! Sports Guy Steve was too tired to talk about the World Cup and Chris Bosh, so instead I explained the history behind the Spanish, Dutch and Canadian flags. I also played tape recorded on the streets of Ottawa asking people their favourite colour and shape...what a lame question!

In the Moon Down Mailbag:
  • Dear Julien, why are there so few trapezoids in the world?
  • Dear Julien, why are stop signs red octagons?
  • Dear big-headed radio host, what shape is life?

07-01-2010 - Canada Day

Download (Right-click + Save Link As): 56:25 - 28mb

Happy Canada Day! I celebrated the nation's 233rd birthday by playing a bunch of rare records found in various thrift stores! Sounds exciting, doesn't it? (Not really.) Well, it was! (Kinda.)

Peter White gave his thoughts on the great white north, I counted down the Fop Five reasons Canada is so great, and discussed the Queen's Royal Tour.

Saskatchewan!

I opened up the Moon Down Mailbag, talked about some local events, and hit the streets to find out people's feelings about Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
